Getting to THE PARK

The Park is a peninsula in Lake Michigan and is located off the coast of Discovery World and the Summerfest grounds. The north entrance to the Park is the path to the Park’s bridge south of the Discovery World entrance. The south entrance to the Park is located behind the Marcus Amphitheater east of the end of Erie Street by Rip Tide Restaurant. No vehicles are allowed on the Park therefore, no state park sticker is required for entrance to the Park.

Directions by Car
From the West:
Take I-94 east to Lakefront exit. Turn right on Michigan St./Harbor Drive. The Park entrance path is off the road to Discovery World’s entrance. See parking options below.

From the North:
Take I-43 to 794 Lakefront and proceed to the Lakefront exit. Turn right on Michigan St./Harbor Drive. The Park entrance path is off the road to Discovery World’s entrance. See parking options below.

From the South:
Follow I-94/I-43 north and exit at Lakefront exit. Proceed east to Lakefront exit. Turn right on Michigan St./Harbor Drive. The Park entrance path is off the road to Discovery World’s entrance. See parking options below.

From the East:
Come by boat and dock at one of our 20 slips, Call 414.274.4283 to make a reservation.

Directions by Bike:
The Oak Leaf Trail and Hank Aaron State Trail will take you right to the Park. Visit Milwaukee By Bike >.

By Bus:

Milwaukee County Transit bus route 10 stops on Prospect Ave., across O’Donnell Park. Routes 10, 12, 20, 23, 30, 31 and 137 serve the Downtown Transit Center on Wisconsin Ave. at Cass St., one block west of the lakefront.

Ozaukee County Express
route 143 runs on weekdays. It stops at the Downtown Transit Center on Michigan St. and Lincoln Memorial Drive, with service from Cedarburg, Fredonia, Grafton, Mequon, Port Washington and Saukville.

Parking at Lakeshore State Park
Free parking:

  1. On Harbor Drive when no festivals are scheduled for the Summerfest grounds
  2. Near the south entrance of the Park
Paid Parking:
  1. O’Donnell Parking lot on Michigan St.
  2. Discovery World and Milwaukee Art Museum lots
  3. Summerfest lots during festivals
