Milwaukee - The Department of Natural Resources will highlight urban shore fishing opportunities at Wisconsin's newest state park by stocking about 1,000 adult brown trout into Lake Michigan at Lakeshore State Park. The fish are surplus brood stock from the Wild Rose State Fish Hatchery, and range in size from one to ten pounds. The Department will be joined by students from an area youth center, who will assist with the stocking and have an opportunity to go fishing after the trout are released.
Lakeshore State Park is the first urban park in the Wisconsin State Park System. It features a signature bridge at the north end, a perimeter trail, quiet water basin with a pebble beach for small watercraft, public boat slips, terraced landscaping features, and accessible fishing areas.
