Lakeshore State Park is located on Lake Michigan and the shores of Summerfest and Discovery World at Pier Wisconsin. It is nearly surrounded by water and connected to Urban Park by the beautiful Lakeshore State Park bridge.

THE PARK
formerly known as Harbor Island, is the only urban state park in Wisconsin and is designed to provide an urban oasis with recreational opportunities and outdoor programs.

The 17-acre park includes a trail that connects to the Hank Aaron and Oak Leaf state trails; a small watercraft beach area with access for canoes and kayaks; fishing areas and 20 boat slips for vessels up to 60 feet with overnight boat camping available. A bridge connects the north end of the park to the Summerfest grounds and an extension of the land near the Marcus Amphitheater connects on the south.

Additional amenities
include a beach, 20 boat slips for vessels up to 60 feet, and access for canoes and kayaks. A park visitor center with boat slips, public restrooms and showers for overnight boaters is planned for the future.

Educational programs
related to the park will explore the cultural history of the lake, focusing on fishery and its importance to this area. Opportunities abound to team up with many partners to offer programs on the natural history of Lake Michigan and Milwaukee’s river systems.
